If our appraisers have determined that an appeal is warranted, we will initiate the Small Claims Assessment Review (SCAR) proceeding. From the date of determination by the grievance board, TRS has 30 days to file an appeal on your behalf. Please note that there is a $30 filing fee which TRS will advance. In addition to filing your appeal with the county clerk, TRS will file notices with the assessing district, the school district, the town clerk, and the treasurer’s office. Once your case is filed, it’s up to the County Court Administration to issue a hearing date. Please note the courts have been busy and patience will be necessary.
