As soon as your application is received, our appraisers will begin the process. The sooner you sign up, the sooner we get to work on evaluating and analyzing your property taxes. If your case qualifies, TRS will file a grievance complaint against your local assessing district. In Suffolk, all grievances must be filed by the third Tuesday in May, and in Nassau, by March 1. Once this deadline passes you must wait until the following year to file.
After the grievance is filed, in Suffolk County, the grievance board can take anywhere from six weeks to five months to make a decision. In Nassau County, it can take up to a year.
