I hereby authorize Tax Reduction Services (TRS), as my sole agent; to file a grievance with respect to the real property tax assessment against the 2015-2016 tax year for my owner-occupied 1, 2 or 3 family residence. TRS will prepare and file in a timely manner on my behalf the necessary grievance documents and, at TRS’s sole discretion, file with the Suffolk County Supreme Court a small claims (SCAR) petition for tax assessment reduction. In addition, TRS is authorized to request and receive any refunds resulting from the lowering of the real property assessment and apply it to their fee; all remaining overpaid taxes will be immediately reimbursed to client. I understand that TRS cannot guarantee the success of any proceeding and that this process need not be performed by an agent.
NO REDUCTION = NO FEE
I agree to pay TRS as follows: One-half of the first year’s savings on my realty taxes resulting from a reduction in assessment of property, due within thirty days of receipt of invoice. This fee will not include savings resulting from any exemptions, including the STAR exemption. If filing a SCAR appeal becomes necessary, TRS agrees to advance the court imposed filing fee of thirty dollars, to be billed to client only upon a successful assessment reduction. If a usable appraisal is not supplied, a fifty dollar appraisal fee may apply, only upon a successful assessment reduction. If I do not make payment I will reimburse your costs for collecting the amount due, including interest and reasonable attorneys’ fees. In the case of a duplicate filing, I agree to pay TRS in full, as stated above. TRS will honor a written request by certified mail to cancel this contract for three days after executing this document. Sale of subject property does not void contract. Contract can be transferred to new owner by written agreement.
NO FEE IS DUE TRS UNLESS MY TAX ASSESSMENT IS REDUCED.
